Case against Telangana BRS leader Harish Rao, ex-DCP for alleged phone tapping

A case has been filed against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister Harish Rao at the Panjagutta Police Station in Telangana’s Hyderabad in connection with allegations of illegal phone tapping .
The complaint, filed by Gadhagoni Chakradhar Goud, a real estate dealer and former political candidate, also names senior police official Radha Kishan Rao in the case.
In his written complaint, Goud claims that Harish Rao conspired to tap his phone and monitor his activities without authorisation. He alleges that this surveillance was intended to harm his reputation and disrupt his social work and political ambitions in Siddipet. The FIR includes charges of criminal conspiracy, extortion, criminal breach of trust, criminal intimidation, and violations under the IT Act.
Goud, who contested the 2023 elections on a BSP ticket and lost, suspects that Harish Rao used intelligence officials to track his movements, especially during his election campaign.
He claims that during the campaign, his followers received threatening calls warning them not to attend his meetings. Despite submitting several complaints to the police and approaching the Telangana High Court for action, Goud asserts that no significant action was taken until recently, when the investigation was launched.
The complainant also claims that after the 2023 elections, he learned from social media that an investigation into phone tapping was underway. He has called for legal action against Harish Rao, Radha Kishan Rao, and others involved in the alleged surveillance.
